Are you dealing with inconsistent data?
Do you have multiple ways of spelling “Road”?
Are volunteers struggling to locate returning guests?
Do duplicate accounts keep appearing in your system?
If you answered “yes” to any of these, address standardization can help.
When searching for returning clients, even small variations in an address can cause issues. Computers perform exact matches — meaning if you search for John Doe at 123 Peoria Road, the system won’t find John Doe at 123 Peoria Rd. As a result, volunteers may unintentionally create duplicate accounts.
To prevent this, FoodBank Manager automatically standardizes addresses as they are saved to the database.
For example:
Before: 123 w. Peoria Rd
After standardization: 123 W PEORIA RD
This ensures all addresses follow a consistent format, making it easier to find guests, maintain clean data, and eliminate duplicates.
| Input Variations | Standardized As |
| ROAD, Rd, rd., Road, etc. | RD |
Street, St, st., STR, etc. | ST |
Avenue, Ave, av., ave., etc. | AVE |
West, w, w., WEST, wst | W |
By following these rules, FoodBank Manager keeps your data accurate and consistent — so you can focus on helping your community, not fixing typos.
